I don't know that people on the forum have a bias against Pearl drums.

They make fine drums but at the price point of Masterworks and the Reference lines there are alot of other options that seem to make more sense for that kind of money.
And this is coming from someone who owns a Reference kit although I did buy it used at a somewhat decent price.

Plus I still hate those opti-mounts and Pearl tom arms that they still use even on their higher end kits.

What do people have against Pearl? I find it funny that anyone has something strongly against any drum brand, especially if the drum brand makes quality kits. Unless there is something I don't know. I play Ludwig and Craviotto, but I do have a 14x24 Pearl Music City Custom Mahogany bass drum that is an absolute beautiful beast. But like I said, maybe there is something I don't know that I'm missing. The edges on my drum are perfect, but are they usually bad? Thanks!!
There was a loud mouth guy in college who was very vocal about hating Pearl. I pressed him about it and the best reason he could come up with was their obvious seams at the time. My beloved Mahogany Classics have that seam. Pearl has dominated the concert and marching worlds for a long time, and I'm pretty sure that guy was just a rabid contrarian about pretty much everything.
Or maybe he just really hates seams, with one certain variety of hosiery being an instant deal breaker. "Seams on the back?! Date's over. Don't call."

Suggestion... take some wider shots of the complete set, set up without the rack. I don't see any pictures showing the whole set. It would probably make it more attractive. (I didn't read every post, so maybe I missed them.)

Why would these other drum company options make more sense ?

And by the way.. they have had these for a few years now :

Poor choice of words on my part.

I should have said it is all personal preference and "for me" at that price point I would have a few brands that I would personally opt for instead of Pearl. Does not mean I am right - just personal preference.

They changed to a different tom mounting system 2-3 years ago. And you have a ton more in customization options on the masterworks than on any other top level kit.

Bump.

Bump.

I wonder if should just keep the Pearl and list my Sunmit kit? I can't justify owning two kits...

Please justify owning 2 kits. All Forums have some people who have ridiculous amounts of gear. They have stuff they haven’t played in years. I don’t think you fall into that category.
Find a way to keep the Masterworks.

I would keep the Pearl
I may have to. There's no interest in this Pearl kit and the price is much lower than a new one. I love both kits but I incorrectly assumed the Pearl would be easier to sell
