Free 1969 RB’s I got from a complete stranger who I just met 15 minutes prior

Guy had just removed all the Bass drum hardware and put it all in a bucket , he was coming back the next day to do the four toms . He was going to throw all the hardware in his scrap pile at home and throw away the Jasper shells . No snare but the serial numbers are all insanely close . Ruby Red Pearl . The 8x12 and 14x14 are still in my van .

these are my late 66 (RB 20/12/14. round head (brass sn. not pictured (Round head screw)

I almost feel guilty …… almost . Apparently the guy’s mother just passed away and he and his brother just sold their childhood home . The drums were his brother’s who didn’t want them . They were entombed up in the unfinished dusty walk up attic in Newark , NJ untouched for 47 years . Everything is there except all the reso hoops and tension rods for all the toms . The Bass came drilled out to except a 2 up Tom and all came drilled with a rail . The guy told me his brother’s best friend’s Father was somebody at the factory . When he ordered them they were short on 9x13’s so they sent him the bass with duel purpose and a 8x12 with the 9x13 to follow . He stated his brother was big into jazz and was getting into rock and wanted versatility . Very unusual . Round badge’s with hex heads . All serial #’s are mid 112,000’s within a couple hundred of each other except the 9x13 which jump’s up to 118,000 and change . I have 3 Gretsch kits JDA but thanks for the offer .

Well Got the name correct Ruby Red is the 2012 rename ; ) gotcha man!

Could be . It’s weird to have a two up and rail but he said that’s the way it came brand new . I just took to the bucket and laid everything out . Broke out 0000 wool and it’s amazing what’s hiding under all that baked on dust and tarnish .

Unfortunately it’s not staying that color for long , the only thing holding the wraps on is the hardware .

8 Large lug , 2” t rods I believe . Yup that’s what I’m thinking , the change in seasons . The wrap peeled right off the bass . Shell and bearing edges look perfectly in round . Going to either Gray Glass Glitter or Ginger Glass Glitter .

I’m budgeting $500 for 4 VG condition hoops / Tension Rods and I already have a lot of greased lightening , evapo rust and 0000 steel wool . Watch , I’m going to make this kit pop .
 
is the red wine Wrap sellable?

(14X20 in particular) Head Fit may want to just stain or earl (oil..

It’s a 22” . 14x22 , 8x12,9x13,14x14 and 16x16
