8/6/2005 for me, not counting the DCI years. 20 years today. Wow. It's like the old folks always say, time just keeps getting faster and faster.

(My previous "handle" was "FrankMott." That's what I was at DCI as well. I changed it to "DSDrummer" about a year ago.)

I’ve been a member since Harry’s days. Bought my DWs from Drum Center Indy in part to support Harry’s efforts.

Anyone remember Drumset.com? That was my first foray into a drum community on the web.

I’d love to know - or maybe not! - how many hours I’ve spent browsing topics in the +20 years of online drum addiction!

Chris I had totally forgotten but now recall the Frosty trip. I know the band was Papa Mali and the instagators. Can’t recall if frosty wasn’t there that night but I’m thinking he wasn’t.

Was a member on Harry's original forum. (gee I miss his place in Indy)

Got lost for a few years (long story)
Found this place without realizing at first it was the continuation of Harry's place.

Been here ever since.

Looks like I only missed the kickoff by a couple of months.

Yes! There's still a few of us around.

And I do NOT want to count the hours. :)

Dunnett's April 1st snare drums "Hand Hammered Maple" etc., and the Sunluck drum company threads were always fun to follow. I had a Bop kit of Premier orphans that I rebadged as Sunlucks with artwork someone here made up. Sold them last April and the buyer asked about the brand as he never heard of them.

I was an early member/adopter of the original DCI forum in 1998 (28 years!) when I got my first laptop and AOL subscription. There was a core group of roughly 30-40 regulars and Harry was the full-time moderator. It was text only - with no ability to share files or photos There are still a few OGs around - including @bermuda who was essentially the first resident pro and regular participant (and the late Nashville studio great Tommy Wells). There were several in-person get togethers, fantastic transactions among members (e.g. - scoring a then hard to find part before ebay became the place - "Hey, I have an extra Dynasonic frame laying around - let me send it to you!"), terrific collegiality and knowledge sharing in those early days of the internet before online access was ubiquitous. I learned a ton and made some amazing friends with whom I am connected to this day. Eventually the growth, access and anonymity of the internet created conflict and there were some "legendary" characters (BradC and his BrandX DrumCo.!) and epic threads ("Asian Drums Have No Soul" and "Son of Asian Drums Have No Soul"). Good times and I am glad that the legacy of that forum still survives through the efforts of all the folks here.
Dang Hemant, I thought I had a long memory.
That took me back a few decades!
You, JFrond, CorkyD, Bebop. It was a great crowd back then.

I joined, don’t remember when. Didn’t post much, I do remember it being very “basic” as mentioned
Looking back, it’s hard to believe how fast time moves in life.
I was one of the originals at the pearl forum, yet in 20 some years there, I might have had 2k in posts. Weird to watch so much traffic that threads would move pages in hours to being there on the last day.

Cymbalholics
Paiste
Tama
Original sonor museum
The Derek Roddy forum - very exclusive (speed, death metal ) small group of members
I will always remember that site being the most down to earth, friendly non bias forum I’ve been on.
Heck, drum smith was ok for a while.
All above fantastic forums, faded away to memory
You mentioned Paiste. Are you referring to the old "Paiste Players Forum"?
That's the first drum forum I joined. This month, in '98.
I do remember you from Cymbalholic, though.

Yes! There's still a few of us around.

Re: Drumset dot com - I still remember you mentioning the amazing deal you got on that Rogers kit. Garage sale, wasn't it?

Just heard from an "old friend"...Dr. Groove says hi. :hello2::-D;)

Wow I didn’t know this forum has existed for that long, that’s pretty cool. I was a member of the Pearl forum at that time but wish I’d known this existed back then.

Sure was - Red Glass Glitter 20, 12, 16, matching Powertone. Swivo hi-hat, snare stand, pedal, and 2-part cymbal arm. $72

I was RickP at the DCI forum and also when this forum was started by Chris originally . I joined DCI around 2000 - sure miss that forum , some great characters and knowledge there . Some great feuds too

I changed my moniker here when I came back from a couple year sabbatical when the previous regime did not support me when another member threatened me on open forum .

It's a bit hazy but I think I was on the RMMP newsgroup and that morphed into a website or websites. I was on DCI I think and then this.

I first looked at DFO when a friend told me it was a better place (than other drum chat rooms) to sell or buy used gear.
He was correct......I have done both.

Yes sir, I believe that was the name of it
