Dear Community,

I have started a YouTube series called "Real Book Drumming" on my channel, which is always expanding. The Real Book is the bible for all jazz drummers. "Real Book Drumming" is meant to be a learning tool, an aid for aspiring jazz drummers. I transcribe the drum part of the original recording and then play to the themes of the songs, the transcription follows the video for better understanding. Please check my channel.

I look forward to a lively exchange.

Thanks for your time!

(I was there the day the Real Book came out. I was standing on the sidewalk in front of Berklee College of Music in 1975 ...when all of a sudden...... the doors burst open and 5,6 10 guys came storming out with 'these' books -thick books- in and under their arms and they started selling them.) Never forget it
It was like a melee..everyone bought one after another after another)

Good Luck with website!

This is the first 40 bars of the song "Ain't That A Kick In the Head" by Dean Martin.

"Ain't That A Kick In the Head" is a 1960 song composed by Jimmy Van Heusen and lyrics by Sammy Cahn. It was recorded on May 10, 1960 by Dean Martin in a big band arrangement conducted by Nelson Riddle. The drummer for the big band was, in all likelihood, Irv Cottler. Cottler recorded with Nat King Cole, Louis Armstrong, Bing Crosby, Dinah Shore, Ella Fitzgerald and many others. He became best known as the drummer for Frank Sinatra, with whom he worked for over 30 years beginning in 1955.

I think you meant: "The Real Book is the bible for all jazz musicians."

Do you know how the letter C is sometimes soft as in cymbal?

I thought KC stood for Kan’t CwIng.

Let’s not argue about whether a waltz can swing.
