I just ordered a Roc-n-Soc myself. I am currently using the new Ludwig motorcycle style seat, and it's like sitting on concrete. The foam doesn't compress at all.

can someone explain to me the appeal of the hydraulic/nitro/gas-lift thrones? I would think the advantage would be for quick height adjustments, so I could see it being helpful when many drummers are sharing a throne for whatever reason. if you're the only one using your throne, wouldn't you rather set it where you like it and leave it there?

It's all about the slight "bounce" and "give" that those seats have. Much more comfortable to many drummers.

I can't play without that now. Spoiled from more than a decade on Roc-N-Sock Nitro thrones.

Doesn't Vinnie use one??? ;-)

Roc n Soc all the way. 90% of the time when I sit in it'll be on a Roc n Soc. I sat on some new Tama throne the other night and I was'a'hurtin'! Reminded me fast how good the RnS is.

BI _ E M_ E.

Vinnie is the best drummer of ALL FRIGGIN TIME on a McDonald's pickle bucket.

Bonzo couldn't carry Vinnie's stick saw dust. :occasion5: :occasion5: :occasion5:

Just got my new Roc n Soc nitro with back rest, from Backbeats.com on E bay. $190 free ship, no tax. Very comfortable.

You must have got the last one... I found one for $235 from (broken link removed) on ebay... cheapest I've found.

I think your right. Backbeats had it listed for $209 BIN with make offer. I offered them $190, and they accepted. Keep searching, one will come up.

Thanks for the tip! They listed another one and I got... $190! :occasion5:

Most excellent! I know one of the guys that works there. Cool drum shop. I live about 30 minutes away. If I don't feel like driving out there, they ship me stuff for free, and they always beat the big box store prices.

Roc-N-Soc arrived on Saturday. Very comfortable, but too heavy to gig with, so I sold it for what I paid to another drummer. And the search continues....

Yeah, I like the Roc-N-Soc, but it weighs 10x what the Shelly Manne seat I've been using for the last month weighs. And I can break it down and put it in my duffel bag with the rest of my hardware. Comfort is nice, but portability is just as important to me.
