Hi all! - just saw this. The results speak for themselves when you look at the success of that music. Rockin' great drummer that suited that music perfectly with great loose feel. I could not have done better.
Feel and music over righty righty & lefty lefty!!

Is it a paiste fast crash she uses to crash ride on ?
I play in a White Stripes tribute. From what I've been able to find, she played Signature Full and Signature Power crashes, usually 19", in the crash position. And primarily a 22" 2002 in the ride position, which she often crashed as well, although I've seen her use a Signature ride in that position, too. But to me, the White Stripes sound is the 2002 ride.

This video is SPOT ON and very well done! I have a ton of respect for Meg.

The Comments on Instagram when this was released were crazy ………

You won’t catch Houndog dissin …….

Man, the ridiculously childish comments on that YouTube video. Wow.

I’ve always enjoyed Meg’s playing and realized the first time that I heard the band there was no way that I could play those songs the way she did.

Gotta admit to you … I never realized the serious talent she brought to the table.
I have never been a fan of the band and consequently never dug into the music.
I am grateful to you @Houndog for bringing her to my attention.
She has a very cool approach … a bit of innocence and wonder.
I am intrigued … not sure I can sit through that guys music though.
This video made it easy for me to see and hear her work.
Good stuff.

I’m in the same boat , I never gave the Band or her any thought until this video …

It's possible that the controversy over some of the YT comments could have been avoided if the series was called, "The Style of..."
Genius infers a pretty wide capability in breadth and depth, which I think they were over selling in the video. It's not she can play like say Virgil Donati, then through choice, played more simply and parred down. Nothing wrong with being at the edge of ones ability. In her case being less schooled/technically advanced gave her a quirkiness that was well suited to the music.

Happy for any drummer yet I think the genius here is Jack and his ability to create/direct a scenario where complimenting notes filled the space while providing stage presence. I’m often reminded how easy the drums are to play and how many “other” musicians can sit behind the set an effectively perform/record.

Genius is a good word I think , it doesn’t mean technical proficiency.
It takes genius to play for the song maybe ?
That’s how I understood it myself.
I’m pretty sure that lots of those crazy YouTube and instagram chops masters could pass an audition but they probably couldn’t keep the gig because they don’t have the maturity or big enough ears to play for the song. It’s that wisdom that I think is the genius part. Just my opinion.

I didn't get what Jack was going for until he mentioned that Meg did a "woman caveman" thing. That kinda makes sense. That guy needs to stop using "genius" as his You Tube clickbait titles, because that's a joke.

I'm not here to Meg-bash. Though I'm not particularly a fan, she was what JW was looking for, that edgy sound. Not going to put Dave Weckl or Cindy Blackman out of a job, but that's not the point. Put simply? If I were a producer who needed that "bashy" approach, I'd call her in a hot second.
