Was fortunate to be able to pick this up from a friend recently. It's a pierced (23 holes) 18" trans stamp Zildjian , weighing in at 1520 grams. Pretty trashy sounding-- different from anything I've got. Am really digging it. I threw 3 rivets in it; like it with none, but am tempted to try 23. what the hell---the holes are there....marko

great looking cymbal there marko. looks nice. some nice hammering patterns on it as well. hope you got a good deal on it. the trans stamp stuff can really hit the wallet hard sometimes. enjoy it!

No, Mike, i didn't steal it--I got it from a friend; we both thought $150. was fair. I figure I'll keep this one for a long time......marko

Marko. great cymbal, great price, hey when you get a chance to record it and sound file it for us if possible, great looking cymbal!

nothing wrong with that price at all bud...

It was a practice in the fifties for drummers to drill holes in ride cymbals - not for rivets - but to "dry" them out a bit, as some were thought to be too washy. This could be the case with this.

that would make it even cooler in my book....

Yeah, Franke, I've heard that , too. I've got an old Pasha ride with a whack of holes in it, & they are larger than normal--don't seem to be for rivets at all. I'm not sure what the term "dry" means in a cymbal; this is thin & wobbly/washy. Don't know if it's dry. It has definitely been cleaned--my friend always cleans/polished his cymbals & drums. Keeps a feather duster around for his gloss black kit. To each his own--I've got sawdust all over my kit; I can't avoid it....marko

Nice looking cymbal..looks like it may have started life a few grams heavier tho

4164SB, That's a great-looking cymbal--real similar to mine, but maybe a little more enthusiastic drilling. The edge notches are something I've never seen before, & would make me a little nervous. Similar hammering to mine. How's it sound? Dry?....marko

It is dry, and dark. The edge notches started as one edge crack that was notch cut to keep it from spreading and I guess the owner was into symmetry. It's one of my favorite 22" PRE-RINGO A's and for $49.00 I couldn't resist!
