I am looking for a ride cymbal that has a nice ping, stick definition, and with very little overtone. The closest thing that I am aware of that meets these criteria is the Zildjian ping ride. Is there any other ride cymbal by any brand that you would recommend to achieve this kind of sound?

Thanks.

A ping works... I used to love mine. As my style has changed over time, I tend to like looser rides in which a strong ping isn't a guarantee. But I still keep my ping when needed.

If you're after Zildjians, would a K Custom work? Or possibly something in the S series?

For the Paiste line, I'm guessing a Signature Precision might be up your alley.

Some of the older Sabian HH Leopard rides might suit you

Sabian AAX Raw Bell dry ride or HH Raw Bell dry ride are worth looking into .

It may be as simple as an A Ping . Try a bunch of them . They're not all alike .

I went with an earth ride, for about a week I was unsure if I chose correctly but… I’ve grown to love it. I had to adjust the way I play a little. Cuts through loud guitars and sounds great in a recording though.

If you need to cut through, I think there might be some candidates in the Paiste Signature Line like the Blue Bell Ride or the Monad Ride.
For lower volume levels, I think the Paiste Masters Dry/Extra Dry could be a match.

Or some Istanbul Turk Ride in its respective weight category.

Sabian's raw bell dry rides are great, but you may be able to get a great deal on older AA dry rides (not raw bell) or a Rod Morgenstein signature tri top which is something I'd love to have
