I don't think my drums love me as much as I love them.
In my back yard I have a small Mobil home I converted into my Music room for stereo large speakers,
reel to reel recorder ,turntable, and LP's + 45's and most important my 4 pc drum set. I removed all 4 tires and wheels from this Mobil home and set it concrete blocks then built 5 steps in order to get in and out of it, I had intended to go back later and add a handrail to the stairs because they are steep all most Stright up, But I never got back to the railing.
Then this one fine evening I decided to go in and play my drums a while, after an hour are so I got up went out to lock the door I lost my balance on the top step I fell sideways and landed right next to the steps and my right arm was cut by and old metal music stand I had thrown out and never Pick'd up. And there I was laying Jam'd up against the steps and almost on top of the music stand, with blood pouring from cuts and unable to pick myself up, then after a bit I finally managed to get loose, I had a really hard time trying to get up, but I did, I got on my riding lawn mower rode around to the front yard got in my pickup went the ER hospital where they put 6 stiches in my right arm. Now remember, I'm 83 years old and I've had a 5-way heart bypass and I'm wearing a heart bypass in my chest
I have to use 2 walking canes in order to be able to walk around a bit. now that's been about three months ago, in the meantime I've had a railing built on those steps and also bought a Ludwig bass drum from one of our DF members. I'm getting ready to go back up those steps and play my drums again!
I will say this, falling from the top step to the ground was smooth sailing, it was that (Sudden Stop that got me!! OUCH!!! But hey, I love to play my drums.

Wow. I am 84 but while I have no real health issues the thing that worries me most is falling like that as I live alone in a house with hard tile floors. Glad you got the medical attention you needed and hope it all works out with getting back to your drums.

Sounds like you have a nice setup in your backyard mobile music home. I hope that handrail helps! I think there are medical services that will come to your home and give you an evaluation of possible hazards that are lurking and that you may not recognize. Maybe the hospital can help with that. Good luck Norm.

Glad you are ok now …..

P.S.
I have a hitch on my van that I can pull that trailer to my house with if you’d be so kind as to put me in your will !!
