My work takes me several hundred miles a week, and I think I know every public restroom within a 150 mile radius of my house. And I always wondered why it was so difficult to make a hand air-dryer that didn't suck. Well, finally someone figured out how to build one that works amazingly well! I'm seeing them more and more, and whoever came up with this thing needs an award.

Silly thread, perhaps, but using hand dryers that were so much slower than a paper towel seemed ridiculous to me. This bad boy makes you think your skin may rip off, but it does dry your hands in seconds. I'm not an investor, I just thought I'd give credit where credit is due.

I love the instructions on hand dryers. After the instruction"Rub hands together lightly" they should write"Then wipe hands on pants while walking out of restroom"

they just put those things in my high school, about a week before i graduated. figures.

on a slightly related note, i work at a music shop and the toilet paper holder in the bathroom it two pieces of wood with holes in them with a drumstick stuck through them.

Man, they have those all over the place here, they are INSANE! I sounds and feels like a jet blast against your hands, people always look towards the bathroom when someone is in there drying their hands.... and dont get me started about the efficiency of them when applied below the belt in the south's oppressive humidity! Kramer would approve! YOWZA!

Dyson (the vacuum guy) has his Airblade hand dryers all over the UK. Feels just like the name. Like an air squeegie.

The restrooms in Chicago's O'Hare Airport have those damn air dryers and the temperatures in them will hit 110 at near 100% humidity in the summer. Just the thing for freshening up after a two hour flight so you can be your best when you meet a client.

I recall a sales manager saying that he wanted to hire some of the guys who sell "those f*****g dryers" because it must take one hell of a salesman to sell that crap to anyone who has used one before.

I am on the road a lot as well, these things are incredible in that they actually dry your hands completely! There's one restaurant in town that has them and for anyone travelling between Toronto and Niagara Falls/Buffalo - the rest stop on the QEW has them.

Pretty sad how impressed I am with hand drying technology. Maybe I will start handdryingforum.org

On this subject there is something I never understood about the older models. First of all they are/were, I'm assuming, installed to be more efficient and save money. Less paper products, less clean up etc. But they would never quite dry your hands with one cycle........ So what do you do?? Hit the button again, right? And only need/use about 1/4 of the repeat cycle to finish drying your hands and still have the thing running while your on your way out of the restroom. Subsequently wasting 3/4 (+/-) of the second cycle, i.e. wasting $$$.
Anyone else ever wonder about this?

I hate hand dryers. How the hell am I supposed to wrap a hand dryer around the fecal contaminated door handle to get out of the loo? And when you have little kids going potty in public places, a fella could use a few old fashioned paper towels.

This was one of the many things that stood out when I visited Japan about 10-12 years ago-- they had hand driers that actually dried your hands. And we're just now getting some here that work...

I remember as a kid going on a long trip. It was real hot going across Kansas in July & we stopped at a place to eat & the AC was so cold that when I went to the rest room I found the way to warm up was under the hand dryer! :idea1:
When I told My mom about it she told the rest of the family & they all got a big kick out of it!
