Whoa Lawd! These are some FINE cymbals!!

Traded a few things to make this setup happen, but here I am...

20" Thin on the left

24" Thin in the main slot

22" Swish on the right

What a beautifully balanced and sweet sounding set of cymbals!!!

I have yet to try the Masters thins yet, but that Master Swish is outstanding . Maybe the nicest sounding Swish I have ever played .

Are the thins a new line? I have a dark masters 20in crash that I love. I have that paired with the 22" traditionals ride, 18" meinl sand crash, and the 17" paiste steve jordan hats.

Love the idea of the swish too! Just not sure I would use it enough with what I'm playing!

With this line, Paiste finally mastered the whole K thing, IMHO.

The Sound Creations were well intended but too heavy and pingy for small group, low volume burn situations; the Trads were too washy, in most cases, in my experience. The Masters are just right washy enough but not too, yet defined enough for R&B playing. They adapt well to dynamic shifts too.

I say these having owned and played all 3.

Very nice set up--a winner! I use a 20" Traditionals med. light swish to my right in my smooth jazz group and a 20" Signature Crystal thin to the lower left, as an alternative ride-crash along with a few others, including Dark Energy 14" hats and a 17" D.E. crash. Wonderful sounds. Congrats!!

Love the masters, got a 22 dark ride, 20 crash/ride, 18 dark,,
Would love to try the thins but I'm guessing they would be most suited to acoustic jazz. They thins have a different look to them compared to the regular darks.

I picked up a 22 Masters Dark ride last year and recently added a 20 Dark Ride, 18 Dark Crash, and 15 Dark Hi Hats. Ive been using them all of the time for jazz, r&b, blues, rock, etc. They are amazing!

Ive been running a 20 Sweet ride(mellow depending on year), a 24 Deep ride, with 16 Traditional thin crash over a 3000 power crash, so versatile!

I agree with the sentiments on the Masters line. Amazing cymbals with tons of character. There is something about these that I like better than the Mehmets, Agop, Bos. I have owned. And for me, Sabian and Zil are nowhere close. I have the following:

-22" Dark ride
-22" Dark crash/ride
-20" Dark crash
-20" Dark ride

I currently own the following Masters
24" Deep ride
16" and 18" Dark crashes
20" Dark Dry ride - now on sale at Murray's shop

Sold
15" Dark hats
20" and 21" Medium rides

I actually like the Mastera for louder stuff that I do . They have some trash and they still project well .

If anyone has a Masters Medium ride they no longer need , let me know .

Michael, I'm sure these Thins would work extremely well in acoustic jazz, but they can also serve many other styles of music as well. I probably wouldn't use them heavier styles of music, but they'd work well for just about anything else. I'm playing mostly singer/songwriter-pop-soul-Americana type music and these big Masters cymbals are absolutely perfect for what I'm doing. I think of them as B20 versions of Giant Beats, with more complex hammering and lathing. The weights on the 24" and 20" are slightly lighter than a GB 24" Multi and a GB 20" Thin.

Hey fishstix... not sure if they're a new line or not. I got the 22" Swish first and was completely blown away by it. Stumble across some YouTube vids of the 24" being played with the Swish and knew I had to get me some. The three cymbals compliment each other beautifully.

Can't rave enough about the Swish. If you play one, you will start looking for ways to incorporate it in the music you're playing. Thing is, it is an extremely effective alternative ride cymbal, so it's really quite versatile. No bell sound to speak of, but that isn't what it's made for.

The 22" Masters Swish is a profoundly good cymbal in my opinion. I enjoy the Masters line in general (love those crashes) and would not mind checking out newer Thin models as well.

My friend has a 20" dark ride he wants to sell.

I would love to get my stick on the 24" deep ride.

Thanks Tom,
Just the Medium Ride interests me now.

After playing this setup for a coupla weeks on a few gigs and rehearsals (haven't recorded them yet), I'm thinking I'll put a rivet or two in the 20" Thin. Already tried all the non-drill alternatives and everything points to this cymbal being an absolute beast with rivets. I'm really liking the idea of having 3 cymbals up with 3 distinct voices... riveted on the left, normal in the main, and the swish on the right.

That's how I have it with my other cymbal set, which is a riveted Sabian Sound Control ride on the left, Trans Stamp old A Z in the main, and a Meinl Trash crash on the right. I find that it inspires me to make more conscious decisions about which cymbal I'm playing (or going to play), instead of simply hitting something because it's there. Been guilty of that in the past, especially with splash cymbals! HA!

How would anyone that uses Paiste Traditional thin crashes compare them to Masters Dark crashes? I have been eyeballing a 17" Trad crash, but I wonder about its durability in a fusion/amplified setting. Seems like 96% of used Trads I come across are dented all around the edges, something I cannot stand for a second.

Your Trad most likely will eventually dent a tinge too. That alloy is super soft.
The Masters crashes will cut through amplified music better.

Thanks for the reply, that is what I was thinking. Will definitely go the Masters route.
