The whole deal, on a scale of one to ten.

Making your very first post on this forum a request for rating your video - Annoying. 1
Music - obnoxious, and a poor choice for a vintage drumming forum. 3
Camera work - nauseating 3
Drum tuning - 8
Chops - 8

Stick - This a vintage drumming forum?????

I mean I get a lot of us are vintage - and there is a vintage section - but labeling this music as obnoxious and a poor choice for this forum is way to "Hey Kid! Get off My Lawn!!" for my tastes. Sorry this is the GENERAL section - and a little death metal is more than welcome here as far as I'm concerned.

Remember it says "Vintage and MODERN Drumming Community" up above.

Wolfbeatz - But Stick is right - you seem to be missing the point of what this forum is about. You don't go into a bar and start trying to sell all the patrons real estate - particularly not a bar full of real estate agents.

DFO is a bar - a clubhouse - where drummers can go to hang out with other drummers. Ask questions, share adventures, give support... not a place to walk into, slap a video and say "Hey, Look at ME." It's a place to make friends, join in conversations, share your journey - your successes, failures, concerns and triumphs.

And like any bar, that you might blunder into and get off on the wrong foot - you're now likely to be rewarded with a bit of razzing. Sorry but that's what the regulars at clubs and bars do.

My hope is that you will look past that - as others have in the past - and stick around. Read some threads and venture a comment here and there - where you feel you can add something useful to the discussion. Let the group get to know you by your usefulness to the group by your contributions.

There are lots of drummers here from all genres, walks of life and degrees of experience - get to know some of them. Some of us.

Then ask about your video - not to rack up YouTube rating - but to get valuable feedback from friends and comrades.

Welcome to DFO.

David

dcrigger - i'm sorry and thank you!
youtube rating it's last for me.
agree that it can look defiantly. in which topic I can not leave this video for evaluation? I would like to hear the opinion of brabanaschikov, including respectable

Hi Wolf, and welcome to the forum, I moved this to the video file section. I think you are a very good drummer, and if you are not in a band, you will have no trouble getting into one.

The music isn't for me, but didn't hate it, sounds like the famed group the Four Skins on the show How I met your Mother, with their big hit
Murder Train.

Like your cymbals, I have plenty of 2002s can't go wrong with them.

Do hang around and get the feel of the forum, and have fun.

I say 8/10

Ben

Good playing....keep up the practice :)

I gotta ask, and I know I am dating myself but what the hell is the screaming about? I understand metal and hard rock....I get it, but why ruin it with screaming? Is it an art?

homeby5 - you're talking about a singer? it is not clear what he was singing? I understand you correctly?

David,

Point well taken. Vintage and Modern drum forum.

Wolfbeatz, my curmudgeonly grumblings aside, I think your playing is very solid, and your drums sound great. Since camera work can make or break a video, I felt compelled to offer the low rating. Camera movement, when employed skillfully, can add a lot to any video, but in yours, I found it distracting. Finally, I can't seem to warm up to the kind of metal music you are covering. The vocals just flat out annoy me. As for metal in general, I have a great deal of respect for anyone who can play it well (as you do, BTW), but it just is not my cup of tea, so I don't respond well to it.

Stickinthemud - Great value - to distinguish between like or dislike and good or bad. Thank You!

Yeah.....I guess. It seems like the music was fine but then it sounded like someone screaming the lyrics.

At this point - like it or not - it pretty much is an established art. Death Metal has been around since the mid-80's and for the bulk of it's 30 years, screamed vocals and rapid fire guitar, bass and bass drum riffs have been at the center of the genre's definition.

So while I can't say that it sits near the center of my musical universe - there is no denying that there has been a big giant boatload of it recorded and played worldwide.

Here's a bit of a Whitman's Sampler of death metal -

Artyom -

Hey - no problem. I'm glad the mods got you settled in here in the Video section.

I have a question or two -

This isn't a drum cover, is it? Meaning a video of you playing over someone else's recording.

Or maybe better to ask - is this a recording of your band?

And if so, maybe you could tell us about it - both the band and the recording?

David

David - Yes, it's my band. There is little to tell) we play, we do record.

So the screaming is an established art? OK......fair enough. Obviously I don't understand that but to each their own. Remember the avante guard era of the 60's? It was full of weird art. I don't feel like Googling so I will work off of memory but Yoko had a "album" with toilets flushing and an exhibit of her sitting naked in a bag for 5 hours.

Anyway, imagine those that are attracted to screaming can defend it with little details and skills that my untrained ears cannot distinguish.....

Back on point....Good playing and keep it up. I really like your snare work on the introduction :)

Cool Russian Death Metal. Not my cup o' tea, but good solid drumming. Welcome to the forum...pull up a stool, introduce yourself, contribute, and learn.

I played with a vocalist in a piano trio once that sounded like that.

CSR - Thank You very much! Where you can listen to Your playing?
