Grab an old 20" or 22" A. Zildjian on eBay or Reverb for cheap money, then send it to Steve Maxwell or Bettis to lathe it to a Thin Crash weight. You'll have a thin crash with the character of an old cymbal built into it.

No I haven't, but knowing how meticulous Steve is about everything he does in business, I'm betting they sound great. I remember him telling me about it long before he started doing it and I thought it was a great idea. Good idea to ask Jess. Good luck.
 
How big? Ran into a 26" Mastersound crash (yes crash) on ebay. Seems a bit over the top...
