I rarely saw a picture of him without a smoke in his hand or mouth.
I keep meaning to get his book, as I am fascinated to hear his take on the studio scene when he was one of the Kings.

I may go back and read my copy of "Backbeat" again...this time with a tear in my eye.
One of the great ones.
My condolences to his family and friends.

You'll wanna skip to about the halfway point, then.
Much of the beginning is about his childhood experiences as a dancer in vaudeville.

Oh no, I just got home from a gig and to hear this sad news is so disturbing. Earl was a great drummer and gentleman. I'm sorry he's gone.

Very deep indeed. Man, the great ones keep going..... I guess it comes down to us to keep their spirit and legacy alive. I´m off to shed some wood.

Here´s to you Earl!

Earl's work with Little Richard was some of the best drumming I've ever heard, and I don't think it's ever been improved upon. RIP.

Thanks for posting this here. I may not have found out otherwise. He certainly was no household name, but those who are in-the-know recognize the depth of his contributions. He was a major player in the r/b music that was basically a transition period when jazz drummers were, you might say, inventing rock drumming.

Another great gone. What an extensive resume the man had.I've literally heard him play throughout my whole life.RIP Earl.Mike

Ther are some very big names in our fellowship. Earl Palmer will always stand tall amongst them.RIP.
