Just read he passed away from cancer, he was 65. Pink Floyd was one of my favorites. Guess he went on to the great gig in the sky

RIck was very well-liked by Floyd fans, as he was a gentle and unassuming man. I always liked his style---simple, direct and song-oriented. He was a key component of every Floyd album until The Wall, when his self confidence was badly shaken by the ongoing battle between Waters and Gilmour for control. He regained it gradually after Waters left the band, and seemed to be pretty renewed by the time he played on Gilmour's last solo tour. He always came across well in books, articles, DVD's and documentaries about the band. He never really seemed to get in the middle of the controversies, and in one instance in an article about the Floyd, refused to go along with a fan who was saying some pretty negative things about Roger Waters, saying, "He's a very clever man" as he signed an autograph. Pretty classy, I would say. RIP, Rick.

Man, I just heard that, So sad...

...crap.
Just finding out about this, via this thread.
Very sad.
Floyd showed me a side of Rock music I wouldn't have known about, if they didn't exist.
I was VERY into them back in my teens and early 20's.
My condolences to his family and friends.

very sad to hear

i'm glad The Floyd was able to do the Live 8 set a few years back. I didn't have cable but I watched the webcast on my computer screen. It was a rush....took me back to high school watching those guys play together!

Very underrated musician. Loved his work on Dark Side of the Moon, those beautiful piano parts were no small part in why that disk is one of the best selling albums of all time. RIP.

Very Sad news. He will be missed. I'm sure he'll be playing Keys at the Great Gig in the Sky............

One of my all time favorite groups. Had the pleasure of seeing them once. It truly saddens me to hear of his passing. May we all see him one day on the dark side of the moon. Till then, rest in peace Ric.

He was one of my all-time favorite synthesists. Some of his Minimoog riffs are totally memorable..

If I could only listen to one band it would be them. I've always loved RW's playing. I'm pretty sad right now.

A complete shock when I read that tonight.Another one gone.Life is really short.I savor everyday I wake up.Thanks for the entertainment Mr.Wright.

That is real sad....Those tracks will be played for a hundred years, maybe more. So he will live on through his work in some way.
