Hi all, I know this was awhile ago and actually hoping John DeChristopher chimes in. What was his set up when he was playing at Daryl Halls “Live from Daryl’s House”? Looks like 14” New Beats, 16”or18” A or ACustom crash, and maybe a 21” A or ACustom ride. Shawn’s playing always amazed me how he got so much out of a 4 piece kit and HH, crash and a ride. Such a versatile player, I guess all that time on SNL made him play for the song. King of Cool look too.
Thanks

I received an email from Jon D. about my post. Here is his reply:

Sorry I missed your post initially. I reached out to Shawn and he gave me what he thinks he used for the Live From Daryl's House sessions, so I thought I'd give you the info here and you can choose to post it or not. It's totally fine if you do...

Here's what he said, and by the way, you were pretty much right on the money with your assumptions: 20" A Custom Ride, 17" & 18" A Custom Crashes (he believes) and 14" vintage New Beat hi hats. He's not sure of the year, but sent me this photo. Check out the autographs!

On a personal level, he's one of the most humble and down to earth guys I've ever known. We met in 1989 (Kenny Aronoff introduced us), when I first started working for Zildjian and he was finding his way in the NY scene. We connected immediately and I helped him in those early years, so we have a special bond and genuine love for each other.

It’s so great we have John’s input on this board. He’s a wealth of info and I thank him publicly for the quick response to my email!
