mid-1990's Yamaha seamless brass piccolo 3.5x14 - the one you've heard about but in truly excellent condition - Larry Mullen (U2), Dave Weckle, Vinnie, Steve Gadd, so many others used this guy.

Everything original except the heads and mylar snare straps

Everything not only works perfectly, but there's no real pitting or black spots on the brass inside or out...slight faint discoloration on area of bottom hoop, and a small cut inside rollover edge - picture shows..doesn't affect sound

Otherwise, incredible clean condition for about 25 years old

Heavy, well-made, cutting sound.

Hardware all original and high-quality - MADE IN JAPAN

Never had an SD493, but I play the slightly larger brother, the SD495. It has been my main snare since the day I got it, and considering I have about a dozen snares, that's saying something. I absolutely love this lineup of Yamaha snares. A great era!
