One New Year's eve a duo played at a local bar that consisted of a Banjo and Accordian players.
The bar owner loved them. Came up to them at the end of the night and said "You guys were great I'm booking you next year." They looked at him and said "Great can we stay set up until then?"
Its a tie for me....

I don't even know the proper name, but Jan Hammer and I think I recall Herbie Hancock using it.
Its a keyboard that's played over your shoulder so you can look cool like a guitar player...

Great topic! Okay Dan, why the clarinet? Because you hate the sound or it's difficult to play? Personally, I love the clarinet sound...it's so sad-sounding. Listen to the live version of Saga's "No Regrets" (from the album "In Transit"). The clarinet solo at the end is haunting.
But the trumpet I used to always not enjoy very much but I'm a total Miles Davis Freak so, go figure--maybe because Miles was very aware of the space and certainly didn't crowd any of his music with the trumpet.
Hands-down for me, it's f**kin' BAGPIPES!!! I don't care HOW well they are played, it STILL sounds like three cats in a blender. UUGGHHH!!!
I apologize to any of you police and firefighters as well as Sons and Daughters of Ye Olde Sod who use these instruments ceremoniously, but their sound makes me want to wield large knives and other weapons.....on myself!!!
