Picked up this baby today, off the rack. What see ye? I've come up with TS, type II -- vertical alignment of A in Avedis and D in Zildjian, Turkish Cymbals jammed up against Zildjian Co. bold Zildjian and a bold ;

Cool. A type 2. And if you look at the font and width of the lettering in AVEDIS and ZILDJIAN Co.....it's different from all the trans 1,3,4. Thicker, bolder....more "block" style.
Sometimes the "AVEDIS" part is barely visible.....but you can still identify type 2's by the Font in ZILDJIAN....and the KMBA vertical lettering alignment in the last 2 rows....which on the OP's is obliterated.
Type 2's often come with multiple portions of the stamp weak.....more than the type 3's.

Ride, crash, or splash? I've run into a number of 14's to 16's of type 2's. It's tougher to find the 18's and up. I own an 18 but still on the hunt for a 20/22. They do show up....it just takes patience.
There's a set of Type 2 - 12" hats on EBay right now - about $200 iirc. More than I'd want to pay. There was also a 25" Type 2 on the market this year....but I think it's about to trade hands.

Oh, yes: it's a 14" orphaned HH, 714g.

I'm scouting for another, to make a pair of hats. If anyone has another orphan lying around, let me know. Thanks.

Does the orphan have to be a type 2? You'll find a lot of choices among the type 3's which are available.

I'd stick to 775 gm or lower on the other cymbal to get all the "slosh" that trans stamps can offer. And it's actually hard to find them in the 800-900 gm any ways.
Concert/band cymbals show up in the 1100-1400 gm range. I have a trans stamp 14" at 1220 gm I don't use. I convince myself it's my "New Beat" bottom...but I never use it.
When these vintage hats get heavy....they seem to close the tonal gap to similarly weighted late 50's to mid-70's A's....especially on the 14" hats.

hey buddy, you got a nice vintage '50's gem there, the giveaway being the heavily indented "zildjian co."
What'd you pay for it ?

Actually, the Z is not heavily intented so I wasn’t sure at first but the bold semicolon was a positive.

I dropped a Benji
