I was browsing around eBay and I found (broken link removed). It's a Wuhan 12" china. I've been wanting a china for a while now, but I simply don't have a lot of money for cymbals. I've heard good things about Wuhans though. I just wanted some opinions on this; has anyone used this cymbal? Should I just save up money? Any thoughts (negative or positive) are appreciated! I was just thinking for like 25 bones, can you go wrong?

Maybe it's just the difference in personal tastes here on the forum, but I picked up a 12" Wuhan Mini-China for about $25, that included a Pearl grabber arm--a pretty good deal, just for the grabber alone. I wasn't too pleased with the Mini-China though. I'd also tried several larger Wuhan Chinas at local drum stores, but nothing I tried really suited my tastes. VERY gongy and not trashy enough, just about every one I tried. I thought the 12" Mini-China was similarly too gongy and harsh for my taste, even as small as it was. But, a lot of forum members love Wuhans, so...I don't know if my opinions will match yours. :)

Don't buy this one blind. Wuhan isn't very consistent with sound, find a store that stocks them and go through the pile until you find the right one.

Occasionally Guitar Center has had these on sale for $9.99. Not sure what the current rate might be but they are cheap. In the past I've seen used ones at Music Go Round for $5.00 (pity the poor soul who had to sell his china cymbal to MGR for $2.50  ).

I have one (bought for $10 at GC) and, even though I picked it as the best out of a whole pile of them, I've never really found much of a use for it. I'd think you could probably find a used (broken link removed) or $18" Wuhan china on ebay for the same $25 and/or a (broken link removed) for not a lot more. Those sizes have far more potential to be useful although, as stated above, Wuhans are all over the map so if you buy one unheard you takes your chances...I wouldn't risk a lot of dough.

I use one of (broken link removed) 14" Sabians over to my left above my hi-hat....works very well.

The only Wuhan I ever bought was the display at the store after a salesman brought 6 or so out for me to try. I never liked it after that. Guitar center sells the 12 for 21 basically so if there is one them close you I say go and try all the ones they have in stock.

I first came across this cymbal when watching the making of Bruce Springsteen's Seeger Sessions?? I can't remember if that's the name of the CD he came out with a few years ago of old folk tunes. I loved the sound of this cymbal and asked about it on a forum and was told it was a 12'' wuhan. I immediately tracked one down on ebay and bought one. I don't use it very often but i really dig this cymbal for quick little accents! It's got a nice little trashy bark.

I never really cared for the sound of the small Wuhan china's. To gongy sounding, I have an 18" that I like pretty well & if I was using a china a lot I would get a 20" or 22" wuhan. :idea1:

Hmm...2 out of 35 12-inchers sounded great, and 2 out of 20 18-inchers sounded great. Considering those odds, one wonders why you're actually recommending these? ;) Would you recommend McDonald's if only 2 out of 35 Big Macs tasted great? :D
