I really like the A Medium rides from the 70s and new ones, so I'm not surprised to see how similar they are on zenstat's chart.
The comment about them being the Supra of ride cymbals is spot on. At worst you may find the sound generic, but the sound is so ingrained you know you can cover pretty much anything with these.

I have a 24 a medium from 2003 that has been on the stand for about 75% of the stuff I do since I got it. Great tone, really crashable. I cant remember the exact weight at the moment but its surprisingly thin for what it is.

Anyone play the current 22 medium ride model ?
I do. Sounds great, though not quite as crashable as the 20.
Cool, presumably you've done all sorts of gigs with it ? it has a little more definition than the 20 too id imagine ?

I have some vintage ones, but I think any of the new ones are fine. Even the pre-2013. Its one of those things...where you may feel like it isnt complex enough on its own, but inside the mix and out front, they tend to work wonderfully.

When I first heard the cymbal I received for the church I immediately thought of the ride cymbal sound you would expect on those cheap keyboards that you manually play on the keys. Kind of a clang clang clang sound. But after hearing it on a recording it was similar to sounding like a 20" Paiste 602 Medium Ride with a real nice melodic ping. The sound sample on Zildjian.com is very accurate to what I hear. But in the mix it becomes "prettier", if I may use that terminology.

I own A 19" A medium Ride.. Long discontinued size..but I love it.. I only ever switch it out with my Paiste 602 medium Ride..

I have a 21" late 60's / early 70's med A that works for just about anything.

I've been playing one for a couple of years now and really like it. It's got a good bell and is crashable. The wash is very pleasant, though I wish it had a little more definition. However, it sounds more defined to a mic than to my ears, so I'm happy with it overall.
