With your budget Humes & Berg Galaxy bags are a great option. Of course there are nicer bags but you will have to spend way more than your indicated.

Although they are better known for their guitar gig bags, Roadrunner makes excellent drum bags as well. For local gigs I have been using their Conga wheelie bag to carry all of my toms. They are well padded and sturdy. They offer a 20" BD bag plus rolling cymbal and hardware carriers. Worth checking out.

Thanks a lot, all. I really appreciate it. Looks like I have some homework to do.

My current cases are a very cheapo set of soft, thinly padded gig bags that have seen hundreds and hundreds of gigs over the last 10 years. Believe it or not, they have held up just fine and haven't failed at all. It's just that the padding is starting to fray a bit and get stuck on lugs, etc. They're a bit road weary...time for a new set.

It looks like newer bags are all generally very good quality. I'm sure I'll find what I need.

Thanks again.

I just picked up a couple of H&B Galaxy snare bags for storage of extra snares I own and started thinking about getting a set for my actual set in the event I ever need to transport it. I have Atlas mounts on the toms and floor tom legs as well as the Atlas Rail on the bass drum. Do these bags fit in the appropriate sizes or should you need to buy larger sizes to accommodate the mounts?

My experience has been that the Galaxy bags make for a snug fit. With the additional Atlas hardware, you'd likely be better served getting a size up.

That said, Galaxy bags are good for what they are: inexpensive bags with decent padding. Some drawbacks include a lid that doesn't fully open, seriously long handles, and nylon interiors. But for economy bags, they're a good deal.

Yeah, I can see needing to go up a size based on how my snares fit inside. It seems like there is a little bit of wiggle room but not a lot. Part of me wonders if floor toms might need to go up 2 sizes because of the 3 sides with Atlas mounts for the legs

The 2 brands previously mentioned are very expensive. As in about $100 for just the bass drum bag alone. They don't appear to have shoulder straps which would be a deal breaker for me.

The OP is looking for an entire set for around $150. I've been using these for the last 2 years and think they would fit the bill nicely.

I have 8 kits and put them all in bags in storage when not being used. I bought these thinking they were cheaper and good enough just for storing. I was wrong, they are much better and would work for gigging full time in my opinion. Best bags for that price range. I paid that for non padded bags.

I agree with all of the above. I now own Ahead cases for all of my drums and have two nice kits. Although I didn't buy all of the cases at the same time. I saved my band money over time till I had enough to buy one or two cases at a time.

When I started I used cardboard boxes and the old style fiber cases found at pawn shops. Better than nothing. Then I started buying SKB hard cases one at a time but back then I was traveling on weekends using a trailer. After that ended I started packing drums and hardware in a pick up, the hard cases were too heavy and taking up too much space in a 6.5' pickup bed. So I decided to change to padded cases by selling the old SKB's and buying again one at a time. LOL Then I made a mistake, I purchased a quality brand bass drum bag and quickly realized I had to force the bag over the drum, not like the older SKB's, you just set the drum in the case and put on the lid. It was like dressing a baby that didn't want to get dressed. So I did some research and found he Ahead cases. My first purchased was for the bass drum. The two zippers go around to the back side then down to the oposit side then the top folds back and the sides stand up similar to a hard case then you just set the drum inside the case and zip it up. So over time I replaced all of the hard cases. Check out the Ahead cases on line and you will see what I mean and I like the teardrop design in the smaller tom cases that allows space for attached hardware. All of their cases have enough room for added hardware.

So, what I'm saying here is; if you are in a big hurry for a set of cases now and your budget is short, get the lower priced cases for now as suggested above, they look like good quality in the pictures. Then over time as they start to wear out, start buying top quality cases one at a time then you will be set for years to come.

Sorry for the long story, LOL,
sherm

Humes and Berg drum seeker are the best value of the higher end bags.

Chromacast bags (walmart.com) are pretty decent and might fall within the op's budget.

Humes and Berg Drum Seeker is what I have and am pretty happy with them. I only have a 22" bag but have a 22" and 20" bass drum. I have not gigged the 20" but I would just use the 22" bag. As long as it fits in the bag that all you need.

I have a 5 piece set of Gator Bags + hardware bags. Whole lot of bang for the buck, matches your desired price point. I've had one zipper pull break in 10 years +/-, that was a easy fix with a split ring and a new pull tab. I also have several Tuxedo stray/single bags, these don't match the quality of materials or construction of the Gators - IMPO :glasses3:
You may need to shop several vendors for you sizes, I'm guessing they they will be available.
