Good deal or not?

I'm not any kind of expert. So, I need some expert opinions. I'm in dealings with a friend of mine, my old drummer in fact, for his cymbals that he gigged with ONE TIME. He bought them when we decided to start playing original stuff back in like '04. He was the guitarist and switched to drums (like a real man.) Anyway, he's got 14" HHX Evolution Hats, 18" 2002 Medium Thin Crash, 19" Dimensions Medium Thin Crash and a 22" Dimensions Power Ride. $500 for all. Good deal or no? I remember thinking that his cymbals always sounded good when we practiced. But I've never played any of those cymbals myself. I've only ever owned Sabian and Zildjians. Need some advice/guidance.

Ebay prices: $132 for the Dimensions Power ride; $125 (used) for the HHX hihats; : $110 Dimensions 19" crash; and $100 for the 2002 crash. You decide. If I were you I'd just pick out what you want. These aren't necessarily a matching set anyway.

So, I didn't vote. You don't have a "lukewarm" response. Those above prices aren't including shipping, but the sellers had to pay fees, so they actually pocketed less cash. So his offer is barely what they would sell for. That doesn't excite me too much. Consider the sound of the cymbals. And consider that they are used, even if he only played one gig (I'm assuming he played some practices on them).

Depends on whether you really dig them or not. Only you can be the judge. It's potentially a good deal, but not a super deal IMO.

The hats are nice but since I'm not a Paiste guy I wouldn't buy to play. The Dimensions are no longer made but some really like them. This is not at all anywhere approaching a "matched" set so I unless he drops to $400 I wouldn't buy (and I would only keep the hats and sell the Paistes). Also, I didn't vote either. For five bills you could do a helluva' lot better. Looks like he's stuck with them unless he puts them up on Ebay.

I think 450 and its ok!!! But dont forget all are nice cymbals. And finally.. keep the Paistes!!!
