Hi everyone, long time lurker first time poster.

A vintage Luwdig 1958 Marching Snare in Gold Sparkle has come into my possession. The previous owner said they bought this drum and the rest of the set from someone who was trying to sell it as a full Ludwig set, alas it was too good to be true.

All the shells were covered in a wood grain mactac wrap, and this particular shell was the only one to have legit Ludwig lugs so after removing the wrap I found it really was the real deal and it even has the date stamped inside!

Very nifty find nevertheless, however after removing the mactac wrap it's left a pesky adhesive in it's wake and I'm not sure what would be the best way to remove it. Any help from the community would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance everyone! :)

Also, quick aside, should I put some Vaseline on the tension rods and stuff cotton balls in the lugs springs afterwards or leave that up to the next owner to figure out? Seems like those are popular go-to tricks people use.

Welcome! My first go to for adhesive removal is lighter fluid. It's easy on wraps and most gloss wood finishes.
Lithium grease is the deal for lube. Available at auto supply and hardware stores. Cotton balls can get stuck in threads so go with a small piece of felt behind the spring. Just enough to make contact but not go inside the spring.
Have fun!
