I've been really digging into indie smiths lately, but last weekend I pulled out my old Zildjian K Custom Dark 20 for a lightweight gig and it still sounds great: a strong bell and lovely ride sound. It's just a bit too heavy for a good crash sound, but overall a great cymbal.

Meinl 21" DDCR - Double Down Crash Ride. In the 2200-2300gr range. I have one and absolutely love it. Nice spread and stick, dark and a strong low pitched bell. Very musical and versatile cymbal.
I’ve been wondering what’s the difference between the double down and the transition ride?

The DD has considerably finer hammering than the Trans and a larger bell. The Trans has deep large hammer marks. Both are lathed on the bottom. Result is the DD is more conventional sounding with more spread and warmth and a stronger bell while the Trans has more trash and dragon breath. I´d say they live in the same district but not on the same street.

The weights of mine:
Double Down is 2287gr.
Transition is 2345gr.

Ah that makes sense, thanks!

The first thing that comes to mind is a mid 50s (Hollow Block) Zildjian 22. They’re usually in the 2600g range. They usually have a wonderful stick sound and bell is quite penetrating. Crashes nicely too.
Other than that, I think the K con Med thin lows (22s) have great bells. Maybe not loud enough for heavy rock but pretty good and basic for everything else
