i think quality vintage drums are a better investment than money in the bank!

Did your drum come with those single-flanged hoops and clips?? Mine has regular triple flanged hoops... :(

Not too many of my drums are in "investment" grade condition, since I can only buy what I can afford (cheap stuff)...but having drums/stuff has always had more appeal to me than having bucks.

"just a plain Black Magic 5 x 14 and lovin" it........."

Just? Man... I'd kill for that snare! Some of you guys are just in another leage in terms of disposable income, I hate to sound bitter but I saw someone with 4/5 kits? I just hope you know how lucky you are.

Yes indeed... I am the luckiest guy in the world.....58 yrs old...worked and still working my butt off for the past 40 years...put 2 kids thru college....still paying off a mortgage...lost a ton of money in the market crash after 9/11 and 2008 and wondering if I will ever be able to afford to retire.....the way I see it I have earned my 4 kits and 6 snare drums...... just making a point here..........

Cool, glad to here we all apretiate what we got :)

I know what you mean about working hard. Also I know what you mean by not having to earn a bomb, it's amazing what you can accumulate over the years and I've seen this happen to me, not with drums but with other stuff. "Hobbies" like drumming that ocupy you for years or even your whole life, only need to have a small amount of money given to them each month, even just £10-20 and after a few years you can have spent thousands. As for a basement full of dums and no money in the bank..? I hear you brother! :)

Chuck Norris bought all the Triumphals but one. Mike should keep his doors locked.

I have a 100th Anniversary Alex Van Halen Model #18. Most expensive snare I have ever owned and my wife had to twist my arm to actually buy it.

I thought about going behind the hubby's back and getting a 6.5" BB w/anniversary badge, but decided to ask for it as my gift for giving birth to another child this year. He said no, since the hospital bills are starting to come in. Dang, I should've just ordered it! So I got a t-shirt instead.
Well, after wanting one of these for over a year, I finally broke down. Just don't tell the hubby. :-D It sounds soooo good! Thinking of adding a p-86. I'll be using this, my 5" Monroe BB, and my 402 in the studio at the end of the month.

Very nice drum, it will do anything you need............
