Surfing my 'puter, looking for something else, I came across this pic of my super cute Honda SS50 on a stinking hot Melbourne smoky bush fire day back in 2014...
Great pic, Laz.
Thanks for reposting it.
...reminds me of one of my favourite movies, Heartlands...

Ha ha, my first bike was a Super Cub 50 stepthru... I was only 8 years old, and not tall enough to sit on the seat, so rode it everywhere standing up, till I got taller. Pretty sure that is why I can't resist the SS50. BTW, that little Honda motor is the most produced motor in the history of Man.

I didn't think I'd posted that smoky pic before... but I must like the location as I had definitely posted this pic before... same bike, same spot, slightly different angle, no smoke.

Beautiful locale, Laz.
That engine was the one that built the company. Engine #1.
My dad remembers them being produced as add-on power units for bicycles.
The Cub itself is the single most produced vehicle in history.
On youtube there's a series of vids where a guy literally rides his C90 around the world.
In this country your bike was called the "S90 Hawk", but it had a 90cc engine.
Could do darn near 60 mph (about 100 clicks).
My brother had one when I was a kid. He liked it, too. =)

Here's a nice shot from this weekend's ride. Been raining a lot, had to get out when I could.......(broken attachment removed)

Picked up a new one today. Been wanting a smaller, lighter runabout. If it can double as a motorhome dingy, that'd be a plus. A coworker had a GT200 Vespa she wanted to sell to buy a car. 10,000 miles, well cared for. Big discount for cash today! Sold. I'm liking it a lot. Light, hit 80 mph on the way home. I'm a step-Italian. Call it honoring my heritage. Always have wanted a Vespa. Just never got around to it....

My new F6B. Gotta get a real shield, a custom seat, and upgrade the suspension and it will be right.
I'm impressed that thing does 80!!!

Yeah me too... unreal.

We do a lot of scootering in Asia... Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, etc... over there they are such a generic vehicle... they carry everything and do it all... just the occasional Vespa though.

Here's one of my favourite photos...

Sorry but that pic really bothers me. The shorts are bad enough, but flip flops. They don't even have the helmets on properly.

I'm not keen to defend my favourite photo, as I'm sure it'll come back at me in spades...

OK... at home in Australia, I'm ATGATT... for sure.

But this photo was taken on Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam. It is a very quiet island with almost zero four wheeled traffic and almost all of the minimal traffic is scooters, going 40-50kph on the open road and half that in towns and villages. There is zero road rage, like actually none, as they are very courteous people.

The 35C-40C (95F-105C) temperatures makes wearing leathers intolerable and I would imagine jeans is pretty unpleasant... I don't know, I wore shorts the entire trip. Everyone rides wearing what they are wearing... light cotton shirts and pants or shorts and the women and girls are often wearing cotton skirts or dresses. Thongs, sandals and crocs the footwear of choice, on the bike or not. The helmets we had were the best we could get... at least in Vietnam you have to wear one, whereas Cambodia a helmet is optional, and sometimes wearable ones are hard to find.

These people are a true motorcycle culture... everybody of all ages rides one... the speeds are low, the whole mindset is bike... what little traffic there is flows like water... it is not the western world dominated by massive cars and trucks driven by aggressive 'me first' people.

FYI, I initially tried to get my wife and the girls to wear shoes at least, but after a few rides around the island and seeing how considerate all the people are, all the time ... I gave up. No way would I let them even get on a bike in Saigon, Hanoi or Phnom Penh... but Phu Quoc, like a lot of rural Asia is low key, relaxed and a very cruisy place. We'll certainly be going back at some stage, and I'm sure it'll involve riding scooters.

Had a great day out on the Vespa. Ran all over. Good mix, in town, back roads , freeways. Have a whole new respect for the touring Vespa. Smooth motor. Very comfortable position. Tons of storage. A real treat to cruise the beach on. Chile verde burrito, prime parking and whale spouts. YYes, that's an ukulele case in the basket. My fav had the bridge pull off, and was coming home from repairs. Good afternoon outing. I needed it, yesterday was a really bad day. I'm in surgery, and when it's a bad day, it really is. I'm better now...
Surprised a KLR 650 guy who came up behind me at a light. Kept him behind on coastal canyon roads. Not rocket boy speeds, but he didn't need to pass me. Ok for a scooter! I actually like more then I thought I would. Great real world bike. And, the wife loves it. She does think she needs a new jacket to match it, tho! (broken attachment removed)

motocross nut here...raced for many many years and still roost anytime I can!

Looks like a fun ride! Never ridden a hard tail. But, I've had bikes that may as well have been!!
Kind of where I'm planning on doing with the Vesp. hang it on the motorhome.
