Great pics! I've browsed the website but never been to the left coast. You'd think they would take advantage of the internet to generate some sales in this economy - all it takes is a few minutes to update your listings each day. Hopefully they will get on it eventually, then we can all benefit from having a store like that. Nothing here comes close to that for vintage gear.

Thanks!

Yeah, he knows he needs to get in the game, but we're drummers, we have Luddite tendencies by nature! I offered to help him set up a website he can update himself, and it looks like he's going to take me up on it later this month.

New website sneak peek. Should be up at adrummerstradition.com this week, but until then:

A million years ago, I used to shop at Drum World, back when they opened their location on Mission Street in San Francisco. Liam Mullholland was selling vintage gear out of there; Liam later started A Drummer's Tradition. He was a really good guy.

RIP, Liam.

Actually Liam ran A Drummer's Tradition out of a storage unit on Bellam street in San Rafael. He would list his inventory in the white pages of NSMD and he also had a flyer he would mail out as well. Liam wanted a store front so he partnered with Drum World in San Francisco. It turned out to be a disaster so it was very short lived. Shortly after that he partnered with Robert Bowler and opened A Drummer's Tradition in 1996 in San Rafael. Robert eventually bought Liam out and has been running the store solo ever since.

I bought my first vintage drum through Ned of Vintage Drum Center of Iowa and paid far too much for a 1970's COB Gretsch snare drum. Ironically I used that snare drum along with a Tama banner with Neil Peart on it as trade for a 1920's 4x15 NOB Duplex in 1994 as my first dealings with Liam and ADT. I've been buying and trading with them ever since and have become quite good friends with Robert Bowler.

RIP Liam!

Drum Pron!!! Great pics! looks like a great store.

It's a shame about the website - It would take someone with just a little bit of knowledge about 1/2 a day to build out a nice clean wordpress site with good galleries & easily searchable categories - with an easy backend for updating.

Cool store! I'm glad that place is where it is, or I'd be broke for sure!

Is that a set (partial set?) of Radio Kings, torn down/not assembled, behind the green Gretsch set? I think I saw a wmp RK snare on the rack, might go with that kit.

I also noticed a set of Lugwigs in psych red... right by the... WINDOW!   Might be a good idea to cover those up, unless they like trading green for white.
