No, you're right. I (like many others) sometimes buy stuff cheap just to flip. Judge me for it if you wish, but it's not all that uncommon.

About $1,000.00 for that kit in really nice shape.

They are some of the best-sounding drums I have ever heard. Not to mention, absolutely gorgeous & built like tanks.

I've got a Mid-70s Rosewood Phonic bop kit and I love it with 'jazz' tunings. The BD in particular sounds sensational with open tuning. The toms sometimes sound a little choked to me though, but that could easily be tuning-negligence on my part.

I also have standard setup of the same vintage rosewoods that are great for rock drumming. They are kind of loud; I had a buddy of mine play them on a gig recently and they sounded 'throaty', I guess I would say.
