Exactly . Protect , protect , protect . The order you are doing it in would still be the same as if you were staining and not wrapping . Except for sanding , do that before you seal the insides . Have the bearing edges cut after you silver seal the insides , wrap is last .
Awesome. Thanks.

Yeah… I’m actually intending to finish them in a natural satin maple.
We’ll see!!

Nice, Charlie Watts style . Post you’re progress in workshop and bring everyone along . I’m staining mine in Walnut then using a sealer ( few coats ) and 10 coats of Lacquer with sanding in between then buffing and polishing . I’ll be posting as things progress . Take you’re time , Rome wasn’t built in a day . Good luck .

It's interesting. I'm assuming it was a cheap cosmetic ploy, but perhaps aluminum prevents absorbing moisture?

Could it be that the drums just sounded the way they did because most sets used either thick sheels or reinforcement rings and Gretch did not?

I'm not sure ANY of it was intentional design. But it all worked out. I stopped buying drumsets once I owned a Gretch Set. They sounded and looked the best to me.
