Just picked up this slightly used 14x8 Tama Walnut Star snare from my LDS. Beautiful drum and I’m looking forward to my Walnut Star Sunny Yellow kit I hope to have before the end of the year.

Dan, how do you like it? I've been thinking of saving up for the 6.5 version.

Haven't played it live yet but will soon. EDIT: I just spent some time with it in the shed and damn, what a tuning range. The drum sounds and feels fantastic. Coated Amby. I'm really looking forward to my gig with it a week from Saturday.

2 Alloy RIMS …..ugh …..
Not sure what you mean. The drum sounds fantastic with the rims. May not be for you, but i wouldn't know that. Have you played one and didn't like? Please elaborate.

$260 for un exciting mount system.

I wouldn’t have went the extra mile if I didn’t believe in them …

I have the Alloys on another kit , nothing else comes close .

Careful brother, something about the Star snares that you can't stop at just one!!!!

I have been restoring 1st generation 1968 Rogers R-380's (made by Yamaha) and I am trying out the inexpensive pearl wrap from eBay. I decided on hot pink marine pearl. I filled all the tom mount bracket holes on rack tom and filled holes from non-original tom mount on bass drum then sanded and repainted inside of shells.

The bass drum has been a lot of work and had wallpaper glued to the inside of shell which took a lot of work to remove (all that glue residue ugh). I have encountered some minor delamination here and there on the cross-laminate angled first generation "air seal" 5ply Yamaha birch shells but used some wood glue and clamps and now they should be good another 50 years.

I am using new generic white coated 10mil single ply heads from DrumFactoryDirect.com and I did not have a full set of original bass drum T-rods so I replaced whole set with modern chrome replacements which are SAE instead of the original metric of these R-380's so I am waiting for some replacement modern bass drum lug casing insert nuts that are also SAE so they'll fit the new bass drum tension rods. I also didn't have useable bass drum hoops so I bought a pair of vintage Tama chrome 22's from eBay that look like the original factory ones.

Drums are coming out nice and I hope to finish them later this week when rest of parts arrive

Recently picked up a new powered mixer. We’ve moved to smaller digs down the beach so the music room is not as spandific as it was at the old family home. The mixer is small enough to sit by my floor tom which is very handy, as I can now tweak it on the fly. The old rig was very powerful, but it turns out 2 x 300 watts RMS is more than adequate to keep up with drums, with headroom to spare.

Here’s the new one, temporarily sitting on a milk crate.

Replacing this… not the speakers tho, I’m definitely keeping them.

My band has been using these for vocals for a few years, but they also sound great on snares.

Mine is with the touring rig but I needed a spare in case it breaks. This one will be put on snare duties as soon as my renos are done... #SM57'SGRANDPAView attachment 576166

Ebenor are here in Quebec, I've recently played in Megantic near where their shop is located. I wanted to go there after soundcheck, but technical problems prevented me to do so.... A few of my friends endorse their products and are thouroughly satisfied. The kits and snare I've heard sounded good. Congrats !!

Well, I know that, I have the Plain maple, then bought the solid sendan and the copper and brass are on my list so, yes, hard time when you start with one!!!
