Hello!

I'm in the market for a 1920's Ludwig 14x5, 8 lug, heavy 2 piece shell with welded back edges, NOB snare drum. Must be in very good or better condition, throw off must be 100% solid and functional. Prefer all original minus newer heads and wires. Must be open to shipping to BC, Canada (obviously I cover shipping cost).

I have $$$. If you have one to sell, PM me and lets chat.

Cheers!

14x4? I have a 14x4 20's Universal 6 lug - great drum. That's what started me on the hunt for a 8 lug version. How are you liking the depth? Also, your username, recently I put my 64' COB Powertone back on the snare stand, haven't played it in forever - what am amazing drum.

Those early heavy brass 2 piece shells are amazing! The 4x15 can have surprising depth when tuned in their sweet spot, a nice medium tuning. Plus you have a lot of real estate on the batter to explore the nuances. Fantastic for brushes as well.

Your COB Powertone is one of the best values in vintage drums. After 50 years they still hold their own.

100% agree. I also think Premier 2000's (COB - rare, or COA - common), are also great undervalued vintage snares. Imo, the ROI with my Powertone is insane. Great snares.

Are they that difficult to find ?

I realize we're talking about a specific drum. All original, 5 x 14 , eight lug, heavy brass.

Sure - AK ( Adrian Kirchler)
i'll attest to adrian's rendition!!! i own a 4x14 'AKBB' (AK black beauty) and it definitely rivals my 20's scroll engraved 5x14...afaik/remember you can chat with him about extending the crimped edge/weld...he's a 'custom' guy, within reason/intent :)...but the edges on mine are not dramatically different than any of my 20's/30's luddies
