Got my Souttone 22" Natural flat ride today. The packaging was terrible: they basically took the cymbal out of its bag, tossed it into a large, flat, rectangular box, then tossed the clear plastic bag in the box along with a few sheets of brown paper, and sealed it with two pieces of tape.

However, the cymbal arrived intact and sounds surprisingly good. It's crash-able, it can swell, and it has good stick (as to be expected). I'm normally not a big fan of flat rides, finding them to be a bit metallic-sounding, and rather one-dimensional. had bought this one for low-volume situations, but of course what attracted me most was the price: 114. One cannot buy a good 22" paella pan for $114 let alone a cymbal. Thanks for the heads-up!

Great deal! Someone should scoop these up... my 15" Antiques are my favorite hats I've ever owned.
5 left and I'm thinking real hard about it

Ah, come on, guys... wait until tomorrow like I was planning to! Doesn't $161.50 (or whatever 5% off the current price is) sound nice? We can all plan it and do it together at a specific hour or something... Solidarity!

I think price only sticks if there is just one left.. I have to say though.. Amazon has really made a fun game of the bait, wait, or buy game.. Along with giving us some great deals if you watch and your fast..

Just bought this Premier Elite Maple snare for $217+ tax. Anyone know what they are worth?

Premier Drums Series Elite 2845SPLAPF 1-Piece Maple 14x5.5 Inches Snare Drum, Drum Set (Apple Sparkle Fade) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005JSG9PI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_A1Q2xb3PQQGQZ

Because I know it's not $217 and I know it's not $1200, either, which are the two prices Amazon has spit out at me.

Yeah, tough to say. The pricing for Premier stuff is all over the map, it seems like. The Elite series is their flagship line, though, so it tends to be really expensive. I think it's safe to say $217 was a steal. Congrats. Now you should grab the matching six-piece kit because this is not a typical price, either:

I picked up a Premier 4 piece silver sparkle burst in December for less than $900 bucks delivered. It is a very nice kit even though I played it once since the purchase. I love Premier kits and have played one on tour for a few years. Premier really has had it's issues over the years and will be gone i'm sure soon. The Elite kit is their flagship kit even though it is made overseas, it still sounds really nice and to pick one up cheap is even better. Now if you want a great British hand built drum there is no other than Liberty Drums. I'm biased but aren't we all :)

Another Soultone arrived today.. Hey,. this time I got the bag!!! no packaging really.. and somehow...no damage.. Second look and this is a little bit bent... I think I have it back in shape though..

They will be gone soon? What sort of problems have they had?
And by "overseas" do you mean the Elites aren't made in Britain?

I don't know much about them, except the Elite is currently a higher quality line, and was a line that also existed decades ago as well.

I noticed Phil Selway from Radiohead switched to Gretsch from Premier quasi-recently - he was probably the highest profile drummer I knew playing them that I noticed. I remember playing a kit in the 90s that sounded sweeet.

I believe elites and genistas are now made in Taiwan and lower end kits in China

Dang that almost makes me want to return the snare or cancel it. Not that it's inferior being manufactured in Taiwan, but I just assumed the top o line stuff would be actually British :/ doesn't seem like there would be a good resell market for it, etc

Even the older stuff that was made in the UK doesn't really sell for that much.

FWIW though, I haven't tried the Elite series... but my Genista snare sounds almost identical to the 40th Anniversary Tama Superstar I also own. In fact, I think I like it slightly more because of the triple-flanged hoops, instead of die-cast. IMO, they are very underrated drums, it's a shame they don't have much distribution - my Genista kit has the best lacquer finish I've ever seen in my life. It's stunning!
