Apparently not, but come on man show some sensitivity. I myself am bald headed and what if we have some members here that are old and have saggyness. That is some keyboard cowboy behavior.
OK, now we are having fun like the old days. Was that English guy "Bollox" or something? Man he was a riot. Ace

Great point......I almost think people should be forced to put thier address in their sigs. That should weed out some of those who talk tough and act the ass. BTW...I live at 768 Bostwick Dr. Key Largo if anyone wants a cane up thier a$$

I almost use my name, ( GW is for George Warren ) and it wouldn't be too hard to find me in Holiday, Florida.
One thing I miss with the new software is the Member Map...it would be nice to have something like that showing all active members (100 + posts min.).

I'm rather new here, still learning the etiquette. I have to say that I visit this site more than once a day and I've learned a lot in just a few months because of you guys. I really enjoy DFO. I do wish that there were more responses but I also understand that "it's all been covered".... sorta. I waited way too long to start being social on a drum forum and I'm grateful for any and all replies, even if I do ask a boring question or start a lame thread. As far as people leaving because of "trolls", let 'em walk. If they can't see that the positive outweighs the negative, then they have pretty thin skin and I feel for them. Thanks to all of you who participate, and to the mods.

Okay, I see what you did there - you snuck in some politics!
...and since you did, I must say I haven't noticed the DFO administration leaning one way over the other, but maybe I missed those threads. Frankly I find your allegation that our Admins will "tolerate right-leaning political viewpoints" utterly absurd.
In fact, I haven't actually seen any of the blatant political commentary that you and a couple others have complained about. The only blatantly political comments I've seen recently were from some Twitter Status Updates that used to be on the main page before the upgrade and that section was swiftly removed after our Admins were made aware of it. Turns out those twitter rants were from so-called "members" who had joined but never even posted here once, as their post count showed zer0.

Then you are utterly not paying attention. There have been a couple of threads which were deleted because people complained. I'm not on the forum enough to go through the entire list of topics to provide example after example, but I had three people message me about bringing up another right wing leaning post that I called out. I may be the only one speaking up right now, but I'm certainly not the only one seeing it.

I've noticed the slow down in activity and have noticed some of the really regular posting members have slowed or stopped posting all together. I really like it here and figure it's just ebb and flow of life that takes people away and brings in new members too! I have noticed a serious lack of activity in the for sale forums....

I've been here nearly 3 years. I get my daily fill in the morning and evening and sometimes in between....shhhh!

I've bought, sold, learned, taught, talked, listened, met drummers online and in person, and it's one of my daily rituals......sometimes it's busy, sometimes it's boring, but it's always something and I am grateful for it! Thanks to the people behind the scenes...keep it up!
And by the way, when do we renew the dues?

Send your check to me, and i'll make sure it gets sent to the proper place.
Yeah, that's the ticket..........!

Where are these ?? I am not saying you are full of it.. but where ? I check in here daily and I don't see much of that.

Honestly, I agree with bellbrass and stopped logging in months ago - and will be logging out after this comment. I got tired of seeing posts which are against the rules, staying up for weeks after being reported. If I wanted to deal with that crap, I would have stayed on Facebook. Keep living in the past y'all, there's a great big world out there for the rest of us.

While this ^ may make perfect sense to you, I've read it three times now and still don't understand it.

There was a post that had several political comments on it - very conservative in nature. The thread went on for a couple of pages (so it was allowed to stay on the board for several days). I was surprised at first, but I didn't say anything, as I'm not one to get into political discussions on the internet. However, when several more people decided to add their political comments (also conservative in tone) to the fray, I finally posted something asking why political discussions were suddenly allowed. The thread was then completely deleted. Shortly after I posted my question, I received messages from three different people commenting on that thread and wondering why the conservative comments were allowed to go one for so long.

Does that make sense?

Again, just based on my experience, it seems as if some people are frustrated that comments leaning one way are allowed while comments leaning the other are not. Perhaps that is why some people seem to be leaving. This is solely based on the messages/comments I have received and my perceptions on the board.

I don't know how much you frequent forums but if you think this place is bad......Sheeeesh. Listen...people have lives and Mods are simply volunteers. They do what they can. Also...it's funny how one perceives things because I always perceived the opposite...that left wing comments get the pass here. My point is that you have to step outside from yourself and see that your perception is probably not accurate. I mean....you pointed one example and you make a broad sweeping judgement? I dunno.......doesn't convince me but again, this is human nature in the world of social media and all in all, IMO, it seems very tame here.

I was explaining why people are not frequenting this forum as much as they used to based on my experience. I'm simply going off of the messages I have received. And to be fair, this is the only forum I visit. (Well, I do venture on to Reddit, when I'm feeling particularly curious.)

No complaints, but it seems like there are a lot more questions like, how do you make a cymbal crashy or a snare snappy, than were seen in years past. I don't have the time or energy to respond to these types of queries. Maybe that's rude of me, but just honest with where I'm at in life currently.

Yes, Topsy your comments make more sense in context now, thankyou for elaborating and please accept my apology for misunderstanding.
I'm wondering if you've made a valid point that we've possibly lost a certain number of valued members due to some politics slipping in here & there, and perhaps we have indeed, yet I'm still nowhere near convinced regarding your notion that the administration of this forum intentionally turns a blind eye to political comments if they be conservative or "right-wing leaning" in nature. I haven't seen that - and again, perhaps I missed it. It's my hope that we as a collective can carry on as a happy group here discussing our favorite passion despite our ideological values or differences. Please don't stop contributing, friend.

I am grateful for the lack of politics I see here. Almost daily, I think about how I'm able to escape that stuff here. Sometimes stuff slips in, we're all humans. But I really do see this place as a refuge. I'm just so bombarded with it these days. I think I got 15 different political mailers in my mailbox today.
