I have a Pearl Studio Session Classic drum set here, I need to mount two toms to the top of this bass drum to complete the set. The toms are 9" and 10" inches in depth respectively. They both have pearl OptiMount holders on them.

All I need to know is what I need to have to mount these toms to the bass drum, I just can't figure it out. Thanks!

I wouldn't recommend drilling and mounting to the bass drum. Buy tom arms and a separate stand.

Something like that would be all you need...BUT...Make sure the holes where you insert the tom into the stand matches. For PEARLS they have they tubular "L" arms that insert into the holes on the optimounts.
Like the picture from my post , or the cheapest on amazon is these
http://www.amazon.com/Cannon-TS67-Double-Tom-Stand/dp/B006YV381W/ref=sr_1_9?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1387086901&sr=1-9&keywords=Pearl+tom+stand

Pearl brand stand are more expensive. Do you have the L arms already or do you need to buy those?

I have the L-arms, do I need them if I buy the stand you suggested?

YOu wouldn't need them, but I haven't seen stands for sale without the L arms. Buying the full stand may be the economical route. You'll end up with 2 extra tom Arms...

These are Fibes drums but I use all Pearl hardware. This is how it's done hung off a cymbal stand. Optimount, Pearl arm and Pearl clamp.

If you have the Optimount, arm and a cymbal stand than all you need is the clamp.

Kellen, I assumed that you were not familiar with drums so I tried to give the most basic solution for mounting two toms. But yes what johnl said is also correct. There are different sorts of clamps that can be used on cymbal stands for different purposes. So since you have the toms arms already, to summarize you can:
1) buy a double tom stand, which we were posting about
2) buy a clamp that you can add to cymbal stands as JohnL pointed out. But since you have 2 toms to mount get a 3 hole clamp. http://www.amazon.com/Pearl-ADP303-Release-Clamps-Inches/dp/B007BSEXIE/ref=sr_1_6?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1387117004&sr=1-6&keywords=Tom+clamp
3) or you can buy a basic drum rack. This one comes with 2 rack clamps included which you would use to mount the toms. http://www.amazon.com/Gibraltar-GMPR-Multi-Purpose-Power/dp/B004XIAZ64/ref=sr_1_4?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1387117093&sr=1-4&keywords=Drum+rack

Good luck! Nice set you have too, by the way...

I have a cymbal stand but I think that it is not heavy duty enough to hold these toms, they're really heavy. Do you think it would work?

There's no way for us to tell without seeing it. If it's a light weight/duty stand then probably not. What make/model is it?

As stated, we would need to see the cymbal stand in question or at least have a model number. Since you already have the opti-mounts and the 7/8" tom arms, I would buy a pair of clamps so that you can hang each from a cymbal stand, one on either side of the bass drum. Or you can mount two from one stand if you like the offset to one side idea. With the former idea, there are a wide variety of clamps readily available. For the latter, you would be better off with the aforementioned three hole Pearl clamp. Again, make sure your cymbal stand(s) is/are heavy duty enough. With a single tom, it is best to align one of the tripod legs under or nearly under the tom. You can also move the center of gravity closer to the cymbal stand by rotating the clamp away from the tom to some degree.

For what it is worth, this is a very common way to mount toms. Since your bass drum has no mounting hardware installed, it is considered "virgin" and that is pretty standard on many currently manufactured kits. As a point of note, the stand you listed from Amazon will not work as it uses L arms instead of the Pearl 7/8" tubular arms.
