Been itching for a 22" dark crash to compliment my 30th 24,22,14 , Sig 22, Trad Flat 22
How do you like your 30th 22"? i've been considering getting one, but I know it's hard to find THE one that speaks to you at times - that and online demos aren't always that true to the sound in the room. Can't decide if a 'medium' or the lighter originals would be best.

I've got a 30th 24" and 30th 16" hats. I haven't played my 30th 24" in a while and wow - I was quickly reminded of how much of a beast it can be. The 22" Dark Crash sounds really nice under mic's. It's a little 'gongy' sounding when played by itself - but I had a blast using it last weekend. Awesome sounding when used in swells and has just the right amount of trash thrown in.

Behringer XR18 digital mixer:

Im still on the fence with it.
It is an awesome and capable mixer, build as a handy/compact stagebox .
But I still have to get used to tablet/smartphone/PC only control (with its connection procedure/dropouts)
I still prefer the direct/analog controls & motorized faders of my X32 compact mixer.
We are having the same pro/con in my band with this gear.

Off eBay, I bought a 1980 Tama Superstar 12" concert tom in Super Mahogany and refinished it to Candy Apple Red to match my kit. Still needs the clear coats but I need to wait for less humid weather to spray it on. I also bought 13" Neil Peart Paragon hi hats. Been wanting 13's since 1978. :)

Latest purchase… or... A former client texted me last week, and brought up a conversation we had at least ten years ago or more. She had told me back then that her dad, who lived a couple hundred miles away, was a drummer. Of course I had to ask if he still had his drums, if he still played. Then I dropped the suggestion that if he ever considered getting rid of them, I’d like to take a look. Ten years passed since we last worked together, but have gotten together a few times for coffee and catching up. Well, she texted and told me that her dad had passed 8 months ago, and was I still at all interested in his drums. Cutting to the chase, we grab coffee and go to see the drums. Slingerlands. Very dirty. 14x20, 9x13, 5.5x14. Black glitter. Mahogany interiors, except the snare. 1959 date stamps. The tom and base have matching dates. Missing some parts, like snare strainer, bass drum hoops. I’m thinking “This is interesting.” I ask “What are you thinking?” Blank stare. Me: “Price?” Her: Continued blank stare, then “Oh… no… I’m giving them to you.” My turn for the blank stare, then profuse thank yous. Turns out the snare is a single ply. And there’s a bunch of old flat base stands that will need rubber feet. The whole thing is a work in progress, but I’ll get photos up when they’re finished. BTW… actively seeking a 3ply 16x16. I feel naked playing without a floor tom.

Got this Black Galaxy Acrolite. I had no interest in the plain ones but I love the black galaxy finish. It needs work, the handle on the throw off is bent as well as one side of the slider. Have replacements coming. Some rust on the hoops but I'm cleaning that up.
One question: the mute is missing the knob. It's screw bottom and I'm wondering if I can use the knob and barrel nut from at screw top version of the mute. I found a few screw bottom versions but they are all pretty beat up.
UPDATE: Did a little research and this should be a screw top muffler. It was just screwed to the side in the bottom hole. New one is on the way. Everything got a nice Dawn bath and the hoops got some chrome polish.

What took me a while to realize is that Behringer doesn't even provide an up to date app for it anymore (at least for my devices).
Even more: the (X Air) app wouldn't even install on my 2 month old Samsung Galaxy Tab!
Very weird for a device which is still sold new and relies entirely on the app to work at all...
Mixing Station does work fine but it proves how much the mixer depends on external parties.

BTW: I ordered a USB-C to Internet adapter to try a wired connection between my Galaxy and the XR 18.
Of course that defies the benefit of wireless control but I thought I'd give it a try for little money.

Tampa Star classics should give you killer drum sound live as I prefer natural drum sounds a lot of guys don't pay attention to tuning heard too many expensive drum kits sound like total junk this program won't let me saycr@

Cool to talk to a well known like you I just finished fiberglass lining a Ludwig accent kit a buddy gave me love to experiment with different things since I am a retired working stiff l learned how to use my hands to make my drums sound thier best

Not really a drum purchase, but I just got 4 CS Coated TOP DOT snare heads. I used them years (and years) ago, but, started using the Emperor TOP DOT, then it seems they stopped making them.
A few weeks ago, I found some on Sweetwater, so I got 2--which got horribly lost in shipping, so they sent 2 more, and I got them overnight!
Holy crap, GREAT service!! THEN the original 2 came in somehow, so I am pretty set for a while.
Put them on 2 of my BB's and the crack and full sound of an Ambassador is there, but I can get a cool "tonk" (Bonham/AVH) out of it too, which I why I like this head over a standard head.
A regular CS just doesn't sound like this head does, and it doesn't have the tuning range of this head either.

Engraved Cadeson Titanium 14x6.5 snare. I’ve been wanting a titanium snare for a while and this one kind of grabbed me. I’ll be gigging with it tomorrow night and post an update as to how it went. The bonus that I didn’t see in the ad for the drum is the Mother of Pearl inlays on the nodes of the tube lugs.
So, played it last night at a 4-hr cover gig and I really liked it. This particular room likes it LOUD but I think I can calm it down for quieter rooms. For the moment? It’s a keeper.

Also @ericBdrums ,

Maybe try something like a Ubiquity UniFi Express instead of the built-in access point. It would be super reliable. I'm having problems with an old Apple airport that someone else set up for our Presonus mixer and am considering this next.

5 pairs of Vater sugar maple Fusion sticks. Finally found my go-to stick after having tried a bunch of hickory and maple from Vic Firth, ProMark and Vater. Nice diameter slightly larger than a 5a with a round tip and thicker shoulder. I use the sugar maple 7a for all lighter playing. Always thought I liked hickory but found them heavy and the ProMerk maple was not very durable. I've played more gigs with one pair of Vaters than any other maple stick. They're still in great shape when others would have been broken or heavily splintered.
