Is anyone buying or selling now?

sounds like it's delayed in customs- we are getting mail delivered in Florida

Nope. It is already at the local office, just stays there for over two weeks now

The other package that was sent at the same time to the same address, arrived two weeks ago.

And they can’t be contacted outside the US for some strange reason. They won’t even reply (but do read) my messages on FB.

Starting to sell of snares and odd pieces in storage. Getting old. Don’t need my wife selling them for what I told her they cost ❤
Update- not selling while market is tanked with no buyers! But, good stuff always sells! Lang/ Gladstone, Dynasonics.

I will only buy now if I can find the purchase by selling something else . I don’t want to use my savings for drum purchases. I had a large purge last year and I got down to a reasonable amount of gear . I used to use gig money for purchases but that cash has dried up .

I‘ve got some drums for sale. Will see what happens.

I recently have bought two vintage Sonor kits. I spent the money I had budgeted for the Chicago Drum show weekend and another Chicago trip to see Rose Tattoo which is now postponed until 2021.

Like the last economic turndown, it's definitely a buyer's market (and I don't think it ever recovered to pre-2008 levels in the last 10-12 years). Buyers are rightly taking the gamble that some sellers need fast cash and offer accordingly.

But as always, some items hold value better than others and if you're not in dire need of cash it's still fairly possible to get a fair price for your gear.

I would be selling online right now, except the place I get boxes from is temporarily closed. Even then I've moved a couple snares and cymbals in person-to-person sales, and none of them were bad prices. Prior to running out of boxes two weeks ago, I'd only noticed a slight slowdown in sales.

Our oldest son (bass player) is looking to buy a boat and they are selling like hot cakes. I don't get it.

In the past three weeks I’ve got these two:
Bronze Black Beauty
70’s player Downbeat

Both were had for great deals.

I have sold off some gear earlier this year and late last year, I got some additional money to spend with the stimulus and I am blessed to still be working during this time, so I have bought a few things recently.
Crush Sublime kit with snare.
Premier 14x12 Marching snare.
Trixon 5.5x14 Birch snare with wood hoops.
Crush 5.5x14 Aluminum.
Wuhan Traditional 14" hats, 16" crash, 20" ride and 18" Linear Smash cymbal.
New heads

I'm ALWAYS buying, even despite my self imposed prohibition. In fact, I just made my deposit to Josh at INDe for a new 14X20" kick and a 13X9" tom (yes I intentionally did those opposite just to bug whoever wants to find something petty to gripe about) to finish out my shell bank. And just bought a full set of Zildjian L80's for my practice set last week... so buying new for sure. As for used, while I am seeing good deals, I am not seeing a lot of the "great" deals I always fall for.

On the selling side, I have had a snare up for a while but that is all and it has garnered zero attention. Though in fairness, it is a Stave drum and not many people gravitate towards those in general. But I am going to take this lull to list more kits and snares here and on Reverb just to be in place once the buying starts up again. Or at least I HOPE it starts up again!

I’m doing both
Recently bought a high priced Slingerland Niles Bop kit that I had been looking for for a very long time.
Yesterday I just sold my Canopus Bop kit off of DFO to a buyer in Canada
I never make money on sales, as I always seem to overpay ?
I’m not putting kids through college, and live a simple life.
I’ve also developed a way to build up a drum and cymbal buying fund
For years, I’ve been fortunate enough to not spend $5 dollar bills. I save them and buy drums and cymbals.
This was to honor of a friend who passed away, and his brother found boxes, and boxes of $5 dollar bills.
This has been my way to have money for purchases. I save some and buy stuff, then do it all over again.

what kits?!?!?

I bought a new electric ride cymbal and a vintage snare. I sold a couple things too. Seems like a normal market.

I did hear overall online sales is way up. Probably because people are home more which leads to online shopping.

I'm a little gun shy right now. I'm getting paid(by my employer), but I'm not making any big purchases yet in case (heaven forbid) my day gig dries up. I suppose some have found deals, but generally I'm not seeing fire sale prices yet. Some listings? Let's just say the sellers ought to get used to seeing their merchandise hanging around. Things I am considering buying for what would normally be outdoor gigs are on hold until I see ANY of them confirmed.

It's a buyer's market - unless you think it isn't.
I keep seeing the same vintage Gretsch & Camco drums on eBay, unsold, and all at the same prices they were 2-3 years ago. Vintage Gretsch and Camco owners still think they can get $5,000 for their kits. I wonder how much it costs to relist on eBay for 2 years?

Leecountry (Gayle or whoever) has had this one oddball orphan tom listed for YEARS, and I want it, but their price is nuts. The other day I thought "maybe they'll be flexible in the current market" so I sent them a reasonable offer, and they passed with no counter-offer.

Leecountry = Jonas Aronson. I am in no way surprised by your story.

I've been trying to sell a guitar for about 3 months. This weekend it just exploded. I had four people wanting to see it today. I think it's probably tax returns. But it certainly didn't look like doom and gloom here.

Using that stimulus money to stimulate . . . creativity!

I've had better luck selling on Reverb and Craiglist in the past two months than I think I ever have before. Maybe prices are a bit lower but volume of transactions seems way up.
